Online Visa Application Procedure (ETA) for Sri Lanka

1. Visit the Official ETA Website

2. Choose the Type of ETA

  • Select the appropriate ETA type based on your purpose of visit:
    • Tourist ETA: For sightseeing, holidays, or visiting family and friends.
    • Business ETA: For meetings, conferences, or business-related activities.
    • Transit ETA: For transiting through Sri Lanka.

3. Fill Out the Online Application

  • Provide your personal details:
    • Full name
    • Date of birth
    • Passport details (passport number, issuance, and expiration dates)
    • Nationality
    • Contact information (email and phone number)
  • Specify your travel details:
    • Purpose of visit
    • Arrival date
    • Flight details (if applicable)

4. Pay the ETA Fee

  • Pay the required fee using a valid credit or debit card. The fee varies depending on your nationality and the type of ETA.

5. Receive ETA Confirmation

  • After submitting the application and payment, you will receive a confirmation email.
  • Your ETA approval notice will typically arrive within 24–48 hours. Keep this document for entry into Sri Lanka.

6. ETA Validity

  • A Tourist or Business ETA is usually valid for 30 days and can be extended if needed.
  • Transit ETAs are valid for up to 48 hours.

7. Show ETA at Immigration

  • Print or save the ETA approval notice to present at Sri Lankan immigration upon arrival.
